The advantage to these cables are many (and thus the higher price):
1) The flat connectors are the best out there for side by side pedal connections (i.e. - Boss, DOD, Fender pedals) - you can't find tighter spacing
2) The sound pass through is superior to many 6" jumper cables (less noise)
3) You can access the wiring as the connectors have screws which allow you to maintenance them
What would be nice is if Hosa made 12" & 18" cables with these same end connectors, this would be a major advantage for pedal board to external pedal connection.
There is only one downside to these cables - the connectors are about 3/4" across - so when connecting them side by side with top mounting connections (i.e. - Danelectro pedals) there is only room for 1 of these connectors.

I was switching over my board from the standard planet waves pedal cables so when I opened these I was surprised by how short they were. It was only then with a tape measure I realised Planet Waves measure their 6" cables from the necks of the jacks which actually leads to a total of 8". Hosa measure from the tip of the jacks. I prefer these. They're shorter, take up far less space, and best of all, if you just happen to be planning on customising your board by soldering your own patch cables, then buying these Hosa patches is half the price of buying the jacks separately for the soldering project. ;-)

Not sure why these things are more readily available. The quality seems to be fine; the convenience factor is high considering it allows Boss effects pedals (or any others with jacks on the sides) to be spaced closer together on a pedal board.
I bought an extra!

These are good quality patch cables with pretty low capacitance compared to other similar options available.

Used a ton of these on my pedal board. Haven't had any issues.

I just got some of the Hosa patch cables and I immediately ordered more to replace other cables on my board. Lots of great things to say:1. They are thinner than Mxr cables which makes a huge difference in the space they use2. For such a low price, they have bolted backs so you can repair them if ever they should need repairing3. They are silent on my board. I have 8 pedals and the only noise is from my AC-154. The head is smaller and flatter than some of the other flat cables I have which makes a big difference when there is a power jack close byThese are really good and seem to be great quality build wise. I'd recommend them to anyone.
