I've been playing for almost 30 years, both gigging and small-scale studio work. These Ampworks units are very well designed and sound great. I've had both the guitar and bass unit since they came out and still use them regularly when recording. The amp sims are good, and the layout/interface is very straight forward. My only complaint, and it's minor, is that when you crank the gain, you either get compression or amp distortion. I.E. you cannot compress the amps that distort. Yes, there's a separate distortion effect you can add, but it doesn't sound as good as the amp's dirt. That said, the combo of distortion and and compression is not crucial, which is probly why they made that compromise. For the money, these things are a steal.
